Cape Verde, officially the Republic of Cape Verde, is an island country located in an archipelago made up of ten volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean about 570 kilometers off the coast of West Africa.
The Cape Verdean economy is mainly focused on growing tourism and foreign investment, which benefit from the hot climate all year round, the diverse landscape and cultural richness, especially in music.
The main economic resources are agriculture, the archipelago’s marine wealth, services (corresponding to 80 per cent of gross domestic product) and, more recently, tourism (which has gained increasing relevance).
The main tourist islands are the Island of Sal and Boa Vista Island.
